Financial Fitness Bootcamp: Financial Fitness Boot Camp Starts Jan. 6, at 6:30 p.m. at Uintah County Library. Financial Fitness Boot Camp will help you manage spending; saving; learn to master debt; myths and facts about credit; with a variety of workout sessions.

Vernal Women’s Auxiliary: The American Legion Hall on North Vernal Ave. doors open at noon the third Wednesday of every month, there is a light luncheon and donations, bingo starts at 1 p.m. for more information call 435-790-8891.

Vernal Family History Center: VFHC, at 480 W. 500 N., offers free classes in genealogy,, Picasa, indexing and more. Call for info 435-789-3618. Open Mon 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tue., Wed., Thur., 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Sat. 9 a.m. to noon.

Area Singles 31 and over: Monday night activities begin at 7 p.m. at the 235 E. 600 S. Chapel. We enjoy a lesson, treats and a good time. Also Thursday nights are the religion class at this same building at 7 p.m. LDS standards apply in dress and behavior.

Uintah Basin Back Country Horsemen: The Uintah Basin Chapter of Back Country Horsemen meets the second Tuesday of the month at the 7-11 Restaurant at 7 p.m., in the back dining room. Monthly rides or trails projects are planned throughout the year.

Archaeology Society: Uintah Basin Chapter of the Utah State Archaeology Society, Golden Age Center, at 7 p.m. 2nd Tuesday every month.

Toastmasters: Toastmasters meet at the Uintah County Library, 100 North 204 East, in Vernal at 6:30 p.m. every Thursday.

TOPS: TOPS Club, meets at the Golden Age Center at 330 S. Aggie Blvd, 9:30-10:45 a.m. every Thursday. Contact Marilyn 435-781-2911.

Golden Age Center Dance: Golden Age Center Dances, 330 S. Aggie Blvd., Vernal, 8-10 p.m. every Friday. Kays Band. All adults and youths over 10 years in age, accompanied by an adult, are welcome.

  • Announcements from Chamber Luncheon August 23


    • “The City is Dark” will be the documentary film on Wednesday August 24 at the Uintah County Library.  Find out why so many starry skies are disappearing, why they are important and what you can do to keep them shining bright.
    • Don’t forget about the Utah Honor Flights to Washington DC to see the war memorials at no cost to veterans. Top priority is given to WWII veterans and terminal ill veterans. Korean and Vietnam vets may participate.  For more information call 435-272-0254 or
    • The Quarterly Business Seminar is coming up on Thursday, August 25, 7:30 AM to 9:00 AMat Townplace Suites conference room.  Breakfast will be served. “From Business Concepts to Reality” -this seminar is designed to provide information on expanding your business or starting a new business.  Mike Finnerty from the Utah Small Business Development Center and Mark Holmes, from the Small Business Development Center here at Utah State will be presenting.  Register ASAP so we can have enough breakfast for everyone.  Call or come into the Chamber office. $15.00 per person.
    • Thursday, August 25, will also be the Uintah Baseball Dinner & Auction.  This event is to help raise money to send  the 12 year old baseball team to Cooperstown. Dinner is $10.00 a plate, $30.00 per family.  Auction and raffle. Great auction items including Deer tags, Elk Tags, 7mm rifle, fishing trip and many more items. Raffle items include 2 – ½ pork cut and wrapped, quilt, outdoor bench and much more.  Come and help our local baseball team go to Cooperstown.
    • Charity Golf Tournament Friday, August 26, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Roosevelt Golf Course – this is to benefit the Wellness Wagon.  Registration is still open.   $250 for Registration per four person team.  Contact Gaylene Potter 435-789-2390 or email to registration
    • Uintah Basin Energy Summit August 31 and September 1, 2016 – 2 day event this year with Dinner and evening entertainment.  Wednesday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM with Breakfast and Lunch.     • Western Rio Blanco Recreation and Park District in Rangely Colorado would like to invite everyone to their annual Septemberfest to be held over Labor Day Week, Saturday,Sunday and Monday.  All kinds of fun activities and events, car show, craft booths, chili cook off, half marathon, mud tug o’war, ice cream social, barbecue and concert in the park and too many more activities to name.  On the table is information and applications if you want to participate in the car show, craft booths, etc.  If you are looking for a fun weekend or just a day check out what is going on in Rangely.

Welcome to the Uintah Community Center! 

The Uintah Community Center opened its doors to the public on June 23, 2008 after almost two years of construction. This facility was built to house many community events, activities, programs and the Uintah Recreation District offices. The Community Center is the perfect place to hold your next Company party, family reunion or birthday party, or just spend the day out of the house with family or friends. We invite you to come down and spend the day with us. You will not be disappointed!
The Uintah Community Center is a 70,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility featuring:
Pools ~ A lap/competitive pool and a leisure pool with two slides and play features
Two full-sized gymnasiums – Indoor track – 36-foot tall climbing wall

  • 4 1/2″  x  4 1/2″  squares are cut from 4 yards of fabric, use 3 to 4 different colors to make this a fun scrappy quilt.
